SUSAN MAGAZINE has been a devotee of live theater since seeing her first live performance of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Mikado at age eight. Interspersed with her theater-going experiences, Susan spent thirty years in the public health arena, specifically in the area of tobacco control in both California and Washington, ultimately managing all tobacco control efforts within the state of Washington’s Department of Health. As a professional tobacco control advocate, Susan also worked extensively with young people training them in various aspects of advocacy and peer education.

Susan’s volunteer experience includes service on both the Boards of Directors of Childrens’ Home Society in California and the Washington State Division of the American Cancer Society. She and her husband are also the founders of the Broadway Rose Theatre Guild in Tigard where both remain involved. Susan’s love of the theater and her enthusiasm about the future of Public Playhouse contribute to her excitement of being part of a growing theater in Portland.
